A man accused of shooting dead a Mpumalanga miner three years ago told the Nelspruit Circuit of the North Gauteng High Court that he bought the worker's cellphone during a game of dice.

Calvin Tjatjie (24) and his co-accused Isaac Sebokuboku Phala (29) and Tshepo Seloane (24) are accused of murdering Madingwana Max Matlou (43) and robbing him of his Toyota Corolla and a cellphone, says a report on the IoL site. Police found the car, which was involved in an accident, next to the road about 22km from where Matlou's body was found. The cellphone was sold to Cash Crusaders in Emalahleni. Yesterday, Tjatjie testified that he bought the cellphone during a game of dice at Burgersfort, then went to Emalahleni where he sold it at Cash Crusaders.
