Money spent on the Nkandla home of former President Jacob Zuma is part of the R14.7bn target of a special tribunal that aims to recoup state capture losses. According to a report in Die Burger, Special Investigations Unit head Andy Mothibi told the National Assembly’s Justice Committee yesterday that the tribunal was expected to be in operation by October. Besides recouping the Nkandla funds, other prominent cases on its agenda include the Life Esidimeni tragedy and Eskom. Mothibi said the ball is now in the court of Justice Department regarding the logistical arrangements of the tribunal. The seat of the special tribunal is expected to be at the Gauteng High Court (Johannesburg) and regulations to that effect were being drafted, Mothibi said.
