Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has published a list of items belonging to former Oil Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke which will be seized following a Lagos High Court order this month. Legalbrief reports that Alison-Madueke ran the Petroleum Ministry from 2011 to 2015 and served as the first female president of OPEC. She was charged by the EFCC with money laundering in 2017. A report on The Standard site notes that her whereabouts are unknown although she has received medical treatment in the UK. The order gave the EFCC 14 days to publish the charges in any national newspaper and allow for her or ‘anyone interested in the items’ to show why they should not be permanently forfeited to the government. In 2017, a court allowed the government to permanently seize a $37.5 apartment block she owned in an upscale Lagos suburb.
