It has been an extraordinary week, even by SA's heady standards. Following months of will he, won’t he? speculation, the man who has been accused of destroying an empire faced the man who is tasked with establishing the extent of the damage before the country can hope to begin rebuilding itself. Legalbrief reports that while former President Jacob Zuma finally appeared to suspend his Stalingrad strategy that has prevented him from facing justice for so long, his appearance at the commission which is tasked with investigating allegations of graft under his watch was as chaotic as his presidency. After all, he only sang when it suited him and, when evidence leader Paul Pretorius turned up the heat yesterday, he fled the scene of the wreckage. It remains to be seen whether he will be back tomorrow or whether he will be prepared to testify further.
